And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

More than a Piano Teacher
Piano teachers are a special breed. We have the ability of all teachers, touching lives with our gifts of knowledge, and wisdom, touching hearts with our love of teaching and people. Piano teachers however have something I feel more special: that bond between teacher and student. It’s an individual unique bond that ties teacher and student together. This bond plays an important role when life happens.
Sometimes as teachers we have to act as counselors, friends, and parents. When tragedy hits, our students need to feel that special bond more than ever. Its our job to be there, whether to be a listening ear, to give a hug, or to counsel about important decisions. Sometimes we just need to be there to be an encouragement.
I felt this more this week as tragedy hit my personal studio. When my student reached out to me because of a death in her family, I knew I needed to be there for her. I want to be that comforting presence for her, giving her whatever she needs to cope. I hope this message is an encouragement to be more for your students. They will take away so much from the experience.
