Membership is open to you! We have several membership options for those who seek to be a part of our organization. Also, if you are currently in college and are wanting to grow your professional network and skills, collegiate membership is the best way to get started. Our collegiate members get access to all of the MTNA resources as general members as well as special access to other tailored perks such as Collegiate Conferences (part of our larger annual conferences), where you can network with and see your peer’s cutting-edge research and development strategies.
There is NO music degree requirement to be a part of ETMTA!!
For general members, the national dues are $104, state dues are $53.50, and local dues are $30. (~$188 total)
For collegiate members, the national dues are $19, there are NO state dues, and NO local dues.
MTNA also has a senior discount (70+)! National dues are $78, state dues are $53.50, and local dues are $30. (~$162 total)

What are the advantages? I found out when I joined the East Texas Music Teachers Association in 2013. My private piano studio was growing, and a student wanted to be able to do additional festivals, theory testing, and conferences at the local, state, and national levels. That student had experienced those fun opportunities with a former teacher. First, I found an amazing group of music teachers that spoke my music language, shared my passion for music and teaching, and shared so many tips to expand what I was already doing! The continuing education for both teachers and students, that ETMTA encourages and provides throughout the year, is equipping and inspiring.
That local group ETMTA introduced me to the state music organization, Texas Music Teachers Association, that provided further opportunities and a yearly state music conference for me and my students. The time and effort of volunteer work, at times, is a very small price to pay for the enormous benefits these organizations have provided me and my music students. I also gained experience, ideas, contacts, and inspiration from serving at the local and state levels. I am a better music teacher today and have more opportunities to offer my piano students because of joining a local music association.
