Welcome to East Texas Music Teacher’s Association!
We are a group of professional teachers who work together to provide our students the best opportunities to further their music education and enrich their experience! We are excited to offer many opportunities through the year for both students and teachers, sponsored by both ETMTA and in conjunction with Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA).
As music study also includes performance etiquette and preparation, our local festivals such as Fall Festival, Holiday Recital, and Achievement Auditions provide students with performance opportunities to enhance these skills, all the while receiving encouragement to continue.
The Helen Elbert Chamber Music Festival, named after beloved late member Helen Elbert, provides the opportunity for students, teachers, and local musicians to work and perform collaboratively in a series of events, with a final concert in the spring to conclude the festival. A scholarship is presented in Mrs. Elbert’s memory at the concert.
One of the most fun and exciting events for both teachers and students happens during the summer at our TMTA state convention! Each summer our students perform together in the ensemble program, learning to play and share music together in a fun and engaging way.
As teachers we are always striving to learn and become better teachers! Each meeting will be followed by a special presentation on topics beneficial to music teaching as well as providing our members the opportunity to discuss topics that are valuable to them. We will also gain insight on ideas from outside clinicians and teachers.
If you are not yet a member and would like to join, or if you would like to contribute to the Helen Elbert music scholarship, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Great things are happening with ETMTA, and I’m looking forward to an exciting musical year!
